Summer
Days was made from an original 1940's
calendar art print titled Summer Days by
Jules Erbit. This beautiful print is not a
reprint but an old print (which I purchased at
auction) done from the painting - it is gorgeous
and full of bright colors. The print has been
mounted with acid-free adhesive and sealed with
acrylic sealer. The puzzle is rectangular and
measures 7 3/4" X 9 3/4".
There is an average of 1.8 pieces per square
inch. Puzzle has been cut from 1/4" 5-ply
Finland Birch using blades with a thickness of
just 0.008!
This is my second
puzzle done in long arm style! I am more
satisfied with it compared to my first long
arm style puzzle because the pieces
interlock better with those around them. There
are still sections which are semi-interlocking,
but overall it interlocks good. I was able to
carefully pick up the entire puzzle with only a
handful of pieces falling out. I also cut them
smaller (1.8 compared to 1.2 per square inch).
The color scheme in this puzzle is lots of fun!
The pieces are really pretty and colorful. I
think this will be a fun one to work. Only a
small area is color-line cut (see lady's arm).
My "key" signature
piece (signed, numbered, and dated on
the back) is the only figural in the puzzle.
Below is the backside of the
puzzle where you can see how the pieces fit
together (scanned before I signed the key):
About 1/3 of the
pieces (my favorites) are shown below,
illustrating my long arm style of
cutting:
Puzzle comes
disassembled inside the beautiful wood
box with hinged lid shown below.
I purchased this box new, and finished the
outside with stain and varnish. I believe this is
basswood. My label is affixed to the inside of
the box with the puzzle title, number, and piece
count. The box measures 6 1/2" X 4 1/2"
X 4" high.

Note:
This puzzle contains small pieces which may
present a choking hazard to children. It has been
designed for adults or older children and is
not meant for young children.
